Mike visited Santa last night, when he came back he decided to hang out on the light fitting in the sitting room. The boys wondered if he broke the light bulbs climbing up there!!!!
Note to self, buy light bulbs!!

Mike's first night
Elf on the Shelf
Santa left a scouter Elf at our house the other night, his job is to report back to Santa on the behaviour of my two boys. My youngest (4.5 years) is absolutely entranced by the idea of it, my eldest (7.5 years) is I believe, slightly sceptical but is afraid to voice it too much.
Let the games commence!!!!!! (wish me luck!)

Santa letters
My boys wrote their Santa letters last night and put them up the chimney as is tradition, so that they can be magically collected by Santa's elves.
I'm so proud, my youngest wrote his first letter. I just needed to tell him the sounds and he knew the letter.

Halloween
I was sitting in my car in my driveway today and as I turned to back out, I forgot these were on my car. Scared the living daylights out of myself, thought there was someone looking in through the window!!

Dear Lord what do they think.
My eldest told me one night when we were driving home, that he had to make up a message in English class to leave as a voicemail. When he told me what he had made up I nearly crashed the car from both shock and laughing so much. I had hoped that this was a verbal message and NOT put in writing but I found out last week when he came home with his workbook that it was.......see below!
In addition to this the same son had to make up a story which was to begin with 'One dark and scary night.' They were given a selection of words to assist them since it was their first time writing a story. Some of the words were 'moon, creepy, cat, fright' you get the idea?
HOWEVER, when you have a strong minded seven year old he decides to use words like 'Vampire, dried blood in teeth, eating skin'.
My sister says the teacher probably thinks I am a slapper who lets my son watch true blood!!
Just for the record may I just say that neither is true!!!!!!

In Dublin's fair city......
Where the weathers been shitty!!!
The kids have been on their summer hols for a week now with their dad, and they've managed to see most of Dublin. Today after an early morning doctors app for my eldest (he's having minor surgery in 38 days but I'm still petrified), I stayed with them and we toured some more of the city.
We went to city hall, dublin castle and the chester beatty library.
Two photos :)

Henry Bear Blanketeers
I was asked by a friend of mine who's grandson had undergone heart surgery as a newborn if I would make a blanket for Crumlin hospital.
When an infant, child or teenager has to have heart surgery they are given a handmade blanket to comfort them (like in snoopy) and they get to keep it forever. That a person has cared enough to handmake it for someone adds to the story.
So here's a 'Handmade by Kathryn' blanket for a special baby in Crumlin hospital, I hope you get better soon whom ever you are.
If you have the time perhaps you could make one too, or even donate material or indeed money to this great cause.

Family Day
Yesterday we went for a drive with the boys to Mellifont Abbey and to a go kart track in Collon.
Unfortunately my eldest has a little bit of growing still to do before he's tall enough drive a kart......maybe by Christmas.
Drinks for the drive, everyone has their favourite :)

My beauties
I snapped this picture of my boys this evening when they were lying on my bed watching tv, before they went to bed. They love each other, and I hope this is always the case :)
Screenshots
On Thursday I realised quite by accident that my phone takes screen shots.... I have absolutely positively NO idea how to do it. It appears I can do it quite by fluke!!
For example....
On Wednesday I discovered Instagram, I am undecided as to wherther that was a good thing. All my photos have been Instagrammed!
My eldest beauty with his new glasses and hair...and sporting a wonderful fake smile :)
Material
Can't believe that after only 13 weeks of sewing I've accumulated this amount of material... Hickeys and IKEA have a lot to answer for!!

Bags, bags, bags....

Crafty day
Had a fantastic day with the crafty queens in Barberstown castle. I had completed the patchwork bag I was making for my friends baby shower. On the way back I had to stop off at IKEA just to look at the fabric :)

Today we went to Belfast to the new Titanic museum and to W5. This was a special day for my eldest for his birthday.
He enjoyed the Titanic museum but loved W5, must go back over the summer.

Look who's seven!
I can't quite fully grasp that this guy is now seven, it doesn't seem that long since I had him.
He's a child of simple tastes, plain fairy cakes in the shape of 7 and he's delighted. (he doesn't like chocolate or most cakes!)
God I LOVE this kid :)

Catch up....
How remiss of me for not posting in several days. In fact looking through the photos there was even a day that I didn't take any photo....note to self, don't let that happen again. (not that I believe anyone else reads this thing only me!!)
So, here are the last 4 days (in 6 pics!)
My eldest posing with and without his new glasses, my youngest sitting on a scooter in the window of the toy shop, a new bag I'm working on (lots of patchwork). The fifth picture is of the swimming pool my eldest has his lessons in every Wednesday, this was taken because today he moved to the deep end and he is one chuffed little (big) man :)

Glasses :)
Oh the excitement, I was harassed into phoning the opticians to check if they were in. With only half a day wearing them he is a model child, leaves them in except for the constant cleaning of them!
So attached is obviously a pic of said child in said glasses... with stupid fake smile, and just moments before a hair cut..........
Drum roll please.......

They both needed new shoes the same week!!!

Catch up.
Realised that I'm one photo down from Thursday. So, the last photo from a wonderful day. Bad bad quality but hey who cares!
A very late night for my boys, but you need to stay up late to toast marshmallows :)
What a wonderful family day.
A picnic in the Dublin mountains, stop off in Dundrum shopping centre for ice cream and a chance for me to peruse the Cath Kidston shop.
On the way home with exhausted but happy kids, who are now looking forward to a Chinese.
I LOVE family days :)
